Which components come from Japan and China?
Breath Trailer combines international component manufacturing with Australian design and assembly. Rather than manufacturing every component in one location, we work with different suppliers and production partners to bring together the materials, components and expertise our trailers need.
Japan: suspension and welding materials
Breath Trailer sources its suspension through Japan, along with selected welding materials. These form part of our international supply chain and are incorporated into our broader manufacturing and assembly process. They are selected for their suitability, technical requirements and compatibility with our trailer designs.
China: chassis and body components
China is an important part of our manufacturing supply chain. Major chassis and body components, doors, windows and selected materials are manufactured by specialised production partners in China according to Breath Trailer’s product specifications.
The body and chassis arrive in Sydney as separate assemblies and are joined at our Sydney facility, before further assembly, installation, integration and customisation. For the evidence behind each stage, read who really builds Breath Trailers.
Using overseas production partners gives us access to specialised production capability and helps us control production costs. There is a major difference between:
- having components manufactured overseas to your own specifications, as part of your own product and supply chain; and
- buying an unrelated company’s finished retail product and simply putting another badge on it.
Breath Trailer’s model is the former.

Electrical installation, solar and battery integration
Our team completes and integrates the electrical system, including batteries, solar equipment, charging systems, inverters, lighting, outlets and accessories, according to the customer’s specification.

Plumbing, water systems and hot water
Plumbing work and water-system integration are completed in Australia as part of the local assembly and customisation process. Depending on the model and configuration, this may include water tanks, plumbing lines, taps, sinks, showers, hot water systems and pump installation.
Gas stoves and fridges
Hot water systems and gas stoves are installed and integrated in Australia according to the selected trailer configuration. Gas-related work is completed with attention to applicable installation requirements and safety considerations. Fridges are also installed in Australia.
Cabinetry and interior work
Cabinetry work is completed or integrated locally as part of the final assembly process. Cabinetry layouts and storage solutions may vary between models and can depend on the customer’s selected configuration.
Air-conditioning
Air-conditioning systems are installed in Australia where included in the selected model or customer configuration. Installation includes integrating the unit into the trailer’s electrical and interior systems.
Awnings, shower tents, bike racks and roof racks
Awnings and shower tents are installed in Australia as part of the trailer’s final assembly and accessory integration. Bike racks and roof racks are also installed in Australia. Availability and compatibility depend on the trailer model, layout, load requirements and selected accessories.

Where additional brackets, mounting points, accessories or modifications are required, selected welding and fabrication work is performed in Sydney.

Customisation
Breath Trailer customers can choose from different models, finishes, colours, electrical systems, accessories, storage arrangements and camping equipment. We regularly adapt trailers around how an individual customer intends to travel.
Final assembly, finishing and quality checks

Compliance and customer handover
Breath Trailer products supplied in Australia must meet the applicable Australian trailer compliance requirements for the configuration in which they are supplied. Breath Trailer manages the Australian compliance and delivery process for its customers, and our team hands over each trailer and provides ongoing product support.
Who designs Breath Trailers?
Our Australian team is responsible for the concepts, product specifications, layouts and ongoing development behind the Breath Trailer range: the Breath Essential, Breath Plus, Breath Ultra and Breath Max.
We continuously refine our designs through customer feedback, practical camping experience and improvements to functionality, comfort and usability. That development considers Australian towing conditions, weight and towability, storage, off-grid power, water capacity, kitchen usability, sleeping comfort, ventilation, shower and bathroom configurations, ground clearance, suspension, solar capacity, awnings, roof storage and ease of setup.
Breath Trailer owns design intellectual property
Breath Trailer holds three registered designs covering the Breath Plus, Ultra and Max models. The designs are registered and certified with IP Australia, the Australian Government agency that administers registered designs, in the name of Breath Trailer Pty Ltd (ABN 97 686 838 120):

Anyone can check these records on the Australian Design Search. Each one lists Breath Trailer Pty Ltd as the owner and shows the design as certified. The Breath Plus record currently reads “Certified (Under examination)”: the design was certified on 19 January 2026 and is registered until 29 September 2030, and IP Australia is examining it again. Certification means the design has been examined by IP Australia, and a registered design must be certified before its owner can enforce it.

Are Breath Trailers rebadged Chinese campers?
No. We openly state that major chassis and body components are manufactured in China. What we reject is the suggestion that Breath Trailer buys a finished camper from a catalogue and resells it under its own badge, or that a photograph of a similar camper online identifies our manufacturing relationships or the owner of our designs.
Does Breath Trailer buy its trailers from the Chinese company shown in competitor articles?
No. A company displaying a visually similar camper online does not mean Breath Trailer purchases its trailers from that company. Recent online articles have compared Breath Trailer products with photographs on Chinese supplier websites and Alibaba, and suggested that those similarities establish the source of Breath Trailer campers. Even the competitor article that raised these allegations acknowledges that product similarity, by itself, does not prove the complete supply chain.
Why can a camper on Alibaba look like a Breath Trailer?
Teardrop campers are an established product category. Many share rounded bodies, side entry doors, rear kitchens, similar windows and hatches, roof racks, off-road wheels and components from common third-party suppliers. Factories also manufacture for many brands, and design concepts spread quickly between manufacturers.
A photograph alone cannot establish a trailer’s engineering or chassis specification, steel thickness, suspension, braking, electrical and water systems, materials, construction method, quality control, Australian compliance, warranty arrangements, design ownership or the identity of a company’s actual manufacturing partner.
Why doesn’t Breath Trailer manufacture every component in Australia?
Manufacturing every component of a modern camper trailer within one country is not necessarily commercially practical. Many products sold by Australian manufacturers incorporate imported appliances, batteries, solar equipment, electronics, suspension components, windows, doors, hardware, lighting, fabrics and raw materials.
Our hybrid model combines specialised international production with Australian product development, assembly, installation, customisation, inspection and support. It lets us keep improving our trailers while keeping them accessible to Australian customers.
What does Breath Trailer add beyond the imported components?
The value of a Breath Trailer is not simply the cost of components leaving a factory. The final product includes product design and development, registered designs, specification development, manufacturing coordination, freight and importation, Australian compliance, Australian assembly and finishing, plumbing, electrical and cabinetry work, accessory installation, customisation, testing, quality control, Australian warranty, replacement parts and customer support.
Comparing the advertised wholesale price of an overseas trailer with the Australian retail price of a completed, compliant, supported and warranted product is therefore not a like-for-like comparison.
