Who Really Builds Breath Trailers? 5 Facts About Our Manufacturing Process
Designed in Sydney, chassis and body from China, suspension sourced through Japan, then joined, wired and fitted out in Sydney. The evidence, fact by fact.
Breath Trailers are built by Breath Trailer Pty Ltd, an Australian camper trailer company based in Sydney, using a hybrid manufacturing process. Our Sydney team designs and develops every model. Major chassis and body components, doors, windows and selected materials are manufactured in China to our product specifications, and suspension is sourced through Japan, along with selected welding materials. The body and chassis arrive as separate assemblies and are joined in Sydney, where our team completes suspension integration, electrical and plumbing work, cabinetry, accessory installation, finishing and quality checks.
Breath Trailers are not manufactured entirely in Australia, and we do not describe them as “Australian made”. This article sets out five facts about who builds them, with the evidence you can check for each one. For the complete country-by-country breakdown, read where Breath Trailers are made.

Fact 1: Breath Trailer owns three registered designs
Breath Trailer holds three registered designs covering the Breath Plus, Ultra and Max models. They are recorded with IP Australia, the Australian Government agency that administers registered designs, in the name of Breath Trailer Pty Ltd (ABN 97 686 838 120):
| Model | Design number | Official record |
|---|---|---|
| Breath Plus | 202517595 | IP Australia record |
| Breath Ultra | 202515194 | IP Australia record |
| Breath Max | 202518546 | IP Australia record |

Our Sydney team is responsible for the concepts, product specifications and layouts behind the range, and keeps refining them: doors, materials, attachments, cabinetry, battery layouts, solar connections, roof racks and awnings. A design registration shows who owns a design. It does not, on its own, show where a product is manufactured, which is why the next fact matters.
Fact 2: Major components come from China and Japan
We state our component origins by country:
- China: major chassis and body components, doors, windows and selected materials, manufactured by production partners according to Breath Trailer’s product specifications.
- Japan: suspension is sourced through Japan, along with selected welding materials.
- Australia: other components are sourced locally.

Manufacturing components overseas to our own specifications is different from buying a finished camper from a catalogue and putting a badge on it. Breath Trailer does the former.
Fact 3: Body and chassis are joined in Sydney
The main chassis and the camper body arrive in Sydney as separate assemblies. Our team joins them at our Holroyd facility: the body is mounted to the main chassis with six vertical bolts, which are separate from the U-bolts on the drawbar assembly. Suspension integration and selected welding and fabrication also take place in Sydney.

Fact 4: Electrical, plumbing and accessories are installed in Sydney
Depending on the model and the customer’s configuration, our Sydney team installs and integrates:
- lithium batteries, solar panels, charging systems, inverters and lighting;
- fridges, gas stoves and hot water systems;
- water tanks, plumbing lines, taps, sinks, showers and pumps;
- cabinetry and storage;
- air-conditioning;
- awnings, shower tents, rooftop tents, bike racks and roof racks; and
- other accessories and customer-specific upgrades.

These are Australian installation and integration activities. The batteries, fridges and accessories themselves come from their own manufacturers. See what happens before a trailer leaves our Sydney workshop and how we test every trailer before delivery.
Fact 5: You deal with an Australian operation
Breath Trailer operates a showroom and workshop at 12 Robert St, Holroyd NSW 2142. You can book a visit, see trailers at different stages of work and ask our team how your chosen model is assembled and fitted out. We also list viewing locations around Australia.

Before delivery, each trailer goes through checks of its electrical systems, lighting, brakes, wheels and fasteners, plumbing and installed equipment. Breath Trailer manages Australian compliance, warranty and after-sales support directly. Our warranty terms are in our terms and conditions.
What a similar photo online cannot prove
Some third-party articles compare Breath Trailers with overseas supplier listings. We openly state that major components are manufactured in China. But a similar-looking camper online cannot establish who owns a design, who built a particular finished trailer, what work is completed in Australia or which commercial relationships exist. Teardrop campers share many features, and listings are sometimes posted by resellers rather than the business that designed or photographed the trailer.
A fair comparison checks the actual chassis and suspension specifications, doors and windows, cabinetry, electrical and solar systems, accessory mounts, the assembly work done in Australia, compliance and warranty terms. A wholesale listing price is not equivalent to a completed, customised, compliant and locally supported trailer. We explain this in more detail in where Breath Trailers are made.
